Description

Being a maid is okay. Being a pretty maid is sometimes a pretty tough job. Being a pretty maid, who happened to be the love-interest of the Master is a very bad thing. A bad, bad thing. A bad thing with big pointy teeth. Especially in medeival Japan. Okiku (kiku=Chrysanthemum) was all three. (minus the big, pointy teeth) She was taking care of the family heirloom, ten plates. (Like - Wow! What a heirloom)

Master wanted to do the nasty with her.

She said no.

Master hid one of the plates and said - naughty, naughty. You lost it, ya klutz. If you won't become my xxxxxx, I shall tell on you and you'll be scolded by my mommy (or something like that).

Okiku said - no way, man.

Master said: Evil biatch!

And enraged, he beat her, cut her up with a sword and threw her down a well (helloooo, Sadako!) As she died in an...er...a grip of powerful emotions (d'oh!), she became an onryo (y'know. Vengeful ghost), climbed up the well, AND..... started to count plates. The post-traumatic stress disorder or something probably limited her choice of postmortem activities. If I was to meet an end like this, I'd tell myself - screw the plates, let's cut up Master. But no. So she counted the plates and every time she reached nine, instead of ten, she gave out a terrible shriek (lacking mathematical capabilities? Perhaps...)

According to one of the legends, the family sent for an exorcist, who yelled TEN!! at the top of his lungs. Okiku said - aaah... and disappeared.

Well, the legend of Okiku has many versions, so if you know a different one, don't chase after me with rusty pipes.

I hope Master commited sepukku, or something.
